Main Ideas...Idiot

Landforms and Resources (pp.201-206)

1.  Since the Andes have created a barrier, along with having many active volcanoes, the movement has been pushed to the interior for settlements.

2. Plains and grasslands are used for raising livestock and rich soil for growing crops.

3. Bahamas, Greater Antilles or Lesser Antilles

4. Mexico and Venezuela because of their "important" resource the economy has been impacted by the cost of oil.

5. Savannas are found in Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina.

6. Several advantages occur from vertical climate zones including increased crop production, protection from weather related problems, conservation of resources, organic crops, and water recycling.

7. Tropical Rainforest, mostly trees.

8. The soil is no longer fertile, meaning, nothing can grow there anymore; trees are needed to get rid of carbon in the air. So if you take away trees, what's left?  Carbon is left, providing more global warning.

9. The "pull" factors include higher-paying jobs, better schools, and better medical care.

10. "An obvious gap between rich tourists and less well-off local residents; this has produced resentment and hostility in places such as Jamaica in the Caribbean and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Governments can run up large public debts by borrowing money to build tourist facilities."
